Gary Numan - Cars

Track 9 of 10 of The Pleasure Principle. Here in my car I feel safest of all I can lock all my doors It's the only way to live In cars Here in my car I can only receive I can listen to you It keeps me stable for days In cars Here in my car Where the image breaks down Will you visit me please? If I open my door In cars Here in my car I know I've started to think About leaving tonight Of how nothing seems right In cars
Gary Numan - I Die You Die

Yet another Top 10 hit with this single from 1980. It was promoted big time in the USA on various formats and added to the US release of the album Telekon although it wasn't originally added to the UK version. This is Numan looking his best in a video that is Uber Cool. I have taken this straight from video and overdubbed the soundtrack to make it higher quality. Hope you like it.
Gary Numan - Down In The Park

Track 5 of 13 of Replicas remaster Down in the park Where the Machmen meet The machines are playing `kill-by-numbers' Down in the park with a friend called `Five' I was in a car crash Or was it the war? Well, I've never been quite the same Little white lies like "I was there" Come to "Zom-Zom's", a place to eat Like it was built in one day You can watch the humans Trying to run Oh, look, there's a rape machine I'd go outside if it looks the other way You wouldn't believe The things they do Down in the park Where the chant is "Death, death, death" Until the sun cries morning Down in the park with friends of mine "We are not lovers We are not romantics We are here to serve you" A different face but the words never change

Gary Numan - Complex

A beautiful synth ballad from the album 'The Pleasure Principle'. It kept up the sequence of consecutive top 10 singles for Numan although a lot of fans (myself included) believe that it was the wrong track to release as a single. If Numan had released 'Metal' from the album instead then surely it would have been his 3rd number 1 single in a row? I have taken this straight from video and overdubbed the soundtrack to make it higher quality. Hope you like it.
Gary Numan - We are glass

Numan's 3rd single under his own name and another Top 10 hit. This wasn't added to the UK release of Telekon although it was added for the US release. This was quite a decent video for it's time with the use of the lazers and it was also nearly banned too because of the images of Numan smashing the TV set. Great song, a bit repetitive and another track that a lot of fans think was the wrong one to release as a single. 'Remind me to smile' from the Telekon album would have been much better and could have given him his 4th number 1 single. I have taken this straight from video and overdubbed the soundtrack to make it higher quality. Hope you like it.

Gary Numan - This Wreckage 1981

Good quality video recorded from Top Of The Pops in 1981 although it was also shown in 1980. Gary Numan (born Gary Anthony James Webb on 8 March 1958) is an English singer, composer, and musician, most widely known for appearing on the chart-topping 1979 hits "Are 'Friends' Electric?" by Tubeway Army and his song "Cars". His signature sound consisted of heavy synthesizer hooks fed through guitar effects pedals. Commercially unsuccessful for many years of his career, Numan is nevertheless considered a pioneer of commercial electronic music. His use of themes from science fiction, and his combination of aggressive punk energy with electronics, have since been widely imitated. Born in Hammersmith, Gary Anthony James Webb was the son of a British Airways bus driver based at Heathrow Airport. Webb was educated at Town Farm Junior School Stanwell, Ashford County Grammar School, Middlesex, Slough Grammar School and Brooklands Technical College. He had an early ambition to be an airline pilot, but did not gain any academic qualifications; however, he did go on to join the Air Training Corps as a teenager. He then briefly did various jobs including fork lift truck driver, air conditioning ventilator fitter and clerk in an accounts department. A guitar was purchased for him at an early age and he began writing songs when he was about 15 years old. He played in various bands, including Mean Street and The Lasers, before forming Tubeway Army with his uncle, Jess Lidyard, and Paul ...

Gary Numan - Are 'Friends' Electric? (Live)

Recorded at Hammersmith Odeon, London December, 1984. Cold Warning/White Noise. Its cold outside And the paints peeling off of my walls Theres a man outside In a long coat, grey hat, smoking a cigarette Now the light fades out And Im wondering what Im doing in a room like this Theres a knock on the door And just for a second I thought I remembered you So now Im alone Now I can think for myself About little deals And *issues* And things that I just dont understand Like a white lie that night Or a slight touch at times I dont think it meant anything to you So I open the door Its the `friend that Id left in the hallway Please sit down A candle lit a shadow on a wall near the bed You know I hate to ask But, are `friends electric? Mines broke down And now Ive no one to love So I find out your reason For the phone calls and smiles And it hurts And Im lonely And I should never have tried And I missed you tonight So its time to leave You see this means everything to me

Gary Numan - ME

Unofficial video of Gary Numan's ME Supposedly it's about the last intelligent machine on earth, left alone, after every human has died. Nevertheless, alienation and isolation is universal theme. The song and subject are extremely futuristic and, despite singing atonally, he's able to express a lot of emotion. Footage is of New York's Flushing Meadows Park. Basement Jaxx sampled this for "Where's your head at?" 22 years after it was produced. ______________________________________ "And me I eat dust We're all so run down I'd call it my death But I'll only fade away And I hate to fade alone Now there's only me We were so sure We were so wrong And now it's over But there's no one left to see And there's no one left to die There's only me Why shoud I care Why should I try Oh no, oh no I turned off the pain Like I turned off you all Now there's only me"

Track 3 of Telekon Where is my outline I start to fade No concentration means 'fail' these days I leave the table saying 'I am real' I feel the pressure like your eyes on me Don't mention that name and books on love I can't be sure, I can't be sure You end on reel one You end on reel one You quote from 'anxious' and things we do I need protection from the likes of you Do you begin to see that I don't know I live on memories that are hard to find Send me a card and write 'I think of you' I'll say you lied, I'll say you're lying You are, you are Tell me a secret I'm sure to fall My dog runs AWOL I blame you all We're in formation saying 'safe, safe, safe' Turn up my collar and mix with dark The speaker turns on me spot her eyes It's hard to breathe, it's hard to breathe You end on reel one You end on reel one You are, you are

Gary Numan/Tubeway Army - Bombers (Single Version)

Track 20 of The Plan Look up I hear the scream of sirens on the wall I see a policeman crying in the backseat of a dying Ford Hotel waiters leave the bedrooms of stars Who are far too old And no-one ever told me That I could be so cold Bombers fight at zero feet Bombers fight at zero I see an old man knocked to the ground And beaten by the vicar's wife No-one stops to help they're far too busy Trying to save their own lives A tiny girl screams for mother And wanders out into the street I saw her going down underneath A thousand people's running feet Bombers fight at zero feet Bombers fight at zero All the nurses pulling needles from their arms Hope it lasts all night And all the soldiers curse the day they joined the army And prepare to fight In silent bars, in silent rooms, in silent cars You hide where you can And me I know just where you are, you see I'm a bomber man Bombers fight at zero feet Bombers fight at zero Bombers fight at zero feet Bombers fight at zero
